Local Activities Around the Mas
From the cultural market town of Ceret to Prats De Mollo with its hilltop Fort Lagarde, the local towns and villages are beautiful and full of activities.
The Mas sits between the beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees, next to the Spanish border.
The local area has an enormous amount to offer from breathtaking Cathar Castles (Queribus and Pereperteuse) to fun water parks (Aqualand, St. Cyprien), from amazing Roman and Greek ruins (Empuries) to Europe's largest go karting track (Grand Circuit Du Roussillon), from delicious food and wine (all around) to intriguing local museums (Picasso at the Musee de Ceret and Dali in Figueres), not forgetting of course endless beaches and the Pyrenees as Mount Canigou rises up out of the Roussillon plane to signal the start of this vast chain.
Walking, Mediterranean beaches, golf, trout fishing, skiing, canyoning, biking, horse riding, thermal baths, gorges, white water rafting, Spain, and ancient hilltop villages are all readily accessible from the Mas.
Golf
The Mas sits very near the border between France and Spain and therefore benefits from courses on both sides of the border.
Our local course, Domain De Falgos, is a breathtaking 18 hole course overlooking both Mount Canigou in France and the Bay of Roses in Spain. It is par 70 and 5047m and was designed by Alain Dehaye.
Other easily accessible courses include:
Saint-Cyprien, just 800m from the Mediterranean, has both 18 hole and 9 hole courses. It was designed by Ben Wright and Barry Tomlinson and is par 73 and 6480m.
Torremirona Golf Club, just over the border in Spain this course has 18 holes and is par 72 and 6245m
Peralada Gold Club, also just over the border in Spain has an 18 and a 9 hole course and is par 71 with a length of 6704m
There are also 9 hole courses locally both at Amelie Les Bains and Camprodon.
Fishing
Le Tech and its tributaries are renowned for their abundance of Trout, both Brown and Rainbow. The Pyrenees Orientale region has more than 60 natural lakes and 110 rivers and streams. Working with a local expert guide we can offer you a varied and exciting fishing holiday tailored to your requirements
Apart from trout fishing there are also coarse fishing lakes on the plane leading down to the Mediterranean and then there is the Mediterranean itself where fishing for tuna etc can be arranged.
Walking
The Mas is situated in the Vallespir, the valley of the Tech, which runs from Prats De Mollo to the Mediterranean. There are too many walking routes to mention. However, Mount Canigou, the GR10, the Costabonne, the Tour De Cabrens and numerous other routes and peaks are within easy reach.
We can suggest many great walks of different lengths and difficulties or even arrange guided walks for you.
